Traveled to northern Madagascar to the the tourist hub of Antsiranana/Diego Suarez.
The access to the crags is controlled by a local guide company, please visit the Newsea Roc website for details.
I booked into a 3 trip to the Nosy Hara archipelago to Camp Corral, a wild desert island with routes right in camp. Most of the routes have been re-bolted with marine grade glue ins.
Next moved to the Jungle Park Adventure. The climbing is situated in La Vallee des Perroquets, or Parrot Valley, a lovely spot located on the backside of Montagne Des Francais, the landmark peak of Diego.
With alot of lines that needed glue-ins we went to work.
Re-equipped 3 classic lines on the main wall, replaced 4 anchors and added a new line to the Magic Wood Wall. It’s called Mora Mora which means slowly slowly, you hear that a lot.
With out a doubt it is some of the biggest holds funnest cragging I have done. Place still has some major potential for development. Mostly in the under 7a range. Perfect climate, dry windy with most crags having shade most of the day. In a word Madagascar is endemic in every way, plants, animals, people, food music and rock. Well worth a visit.
